AWARDS CATEGORIES
Choose the category that best fits the capability/achievements you wish to profile.
Organisations may enter one category and/or the ACC Workplace Safety Award. Each category includes two distinct components to ensure both small and medium/large organisations are equally recognised for their contribution to the regional economy. Organisations should select the category they feel best highlights their achievements/capability they wish to profile.
The following criteria apply:
SMALL ENTERPRISE = Enterprises must be stand alone commercial entities with less than 15 full time equivalent employees (FTE’s). Please note full time contractors would also be considered an FTE.
MEDIUM/LARGE ENTERPRISE = Enterprises with 15 or more full time equivalent employees (FTE's). Please note full time contractors would also be considered an FTE.
1.CHAMPION PRODUCER/MANUFACTURER
Canterbury leads New Zealand in innovative primary production and sophisticated manufacturing. This category recognises innovators and market leaders involved in production and manufacturing in the context of producing products of integrity and adding value to the region's natural capital through smart, sustainable practices.

2. CHAMPION GLOBAL OPERATOR
The Canterbury economy is internationally focused. This category recognises the positive impact on the region's reputation as an internationally orientated successful economy either as an innovative importer or exporter of products or services.

3. CHAMPION HOST
Making Canterbury attractive to visitors and locals alike is essential for sustainable economic growth. This category recognises outstanding contributions to the region's tourism, promotions, events, hospitality and lifestyle activities.

4. CHAMPION SERVICE
A good infrastructure and excellent service support are fundamental to a vibrant economy. This category recognises the smartest provider of professional service, infrastructure or utilities in helping the community to thrive and prosper.

5. CHAMPION RETAIL
A strong retail sector is fundamental to a vibrant economy. This category recognises the smartest retailers who provide a true customer experience.

6. AMI INSURANCE CHARITY AWARD
This special award recognises excellence in performance by a Canterbury based charity.
6A. Small Enterprise [under 15 FTE's & an annual charitable turnover of under $500,000.00]
6B. Medium/Large Enterprise [15 or more FTE's]
7. ACC WORKPLACE SAFETY AWARD
Many organisations are discovering that high safety standards are a prerequisite to business excellence, because of the personal and economic benefits that a ‘safety first’ approach can foster. This special Award recognises business that have developed exemplary workplace safety systems and procedures.
8. CDC INNOVATION AWARD
his special award recognises a breakthrough idea or innovation by a Canterbury based company which if commercialised, has the potential to transform the business in question, and contribute towards the economic development of the Canterbury region. This Award can be entered in addition to any of the categories above, but not in its own right, and has one winner across all entrants. Please note: Judges reserve the right not to make an award.
